Nurse Recruitment for Saskatchewan Health Regions
Jun 23, 2008
IPAMS in cooperation with the five (5) Health Regions of Saskatchewan, Canada namely: Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region; Saskatoon Health Region; Sunrise Health Region; Prairie North Health Region and Prince Albert Parkland Health Region conducted interviews with Filipino Registered Nurses at Renaissance Hotel in Makati City on March 5, 2008.
The nurses were pre-screened by IPAMS to ensure that they are professionals and have the local license, education, clinical experience and English proficiency relevant to Canadian Job requirements.
At the end of the day, sixty one (61) out of eighty five (85) nurses or 72% were selected by the health regions. They are expected to arrive in Canada within the last 2 quarters of 2008.
The nurses have signed a 12 month contract and will initially function at the Graduate Nurse level until they pass the Canadian Registered Nurse Exam (CRNE). They were offered a competitive salary per hour, plus full benefits. They will also receive a relocation grant plus up to seven weeks of orientation with full salary, to ensure their success in the Canadian health care system.
At the appropriate time, these nurses will be encouraged and fully supported to apply under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).
While in the Philippines, the credentials of the nurses must be reviewed and accepted by the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) – the professional self-regulatory body of the province of Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan is located in western Canada between the Canadian provinces of Alberta to the west and Manitoba to the east and just above the U.S. states of North Dakota and Montana.
